# MISSION IRAQ ACCOMPLISHED: BRINGING SMILES TO THE CHILDREN OF MOSUL, IRAQ
❤ FROM ISLAMIC STATE – TO HAPPY DANCING
In the summer of 2017 the little girls and boys (see photos) were liberated from Islamic State and war in the city of Mosul in Northern Iraq, some are displaced from other parts of Iraq and some refugees children from the Syrian war – a few months later, the children were doing happy dancing, singing, danced the happy dance, sang and fooling around with Denmark’s humanitarian clowns, @Clowns4Care.
Some of the children had been refugees for several years, others had just days before been saved from the horrors of war, some lived with their families in tents – other children had lost everything, mother, father, family, everything.
During one week in September 2017, we visited the children in refugee camps and children’s hospitals in Northern Iraq – in collaboration with يونيسف العراق – Unicef Iraq. Beside our warm hearts, smiles, red noses and cheerfulness, we also brought with us home-made pearl bracelets and footballs for the children which other children – back home in Denmark – had created and donated as presents for the kids in Iraq.
We visited and had fun with thousands of children whose prehistory and everyday life is not for children. We tried to give them exactly that: a break, just allowing them to be children and just children. A good experience, a positive and happy memory that hopefully the children can and will keep inside them in the difficult situation they live in.
We never forget the children we met in Iraq – as we will always be grateful for the overwhelming support and help we got og get from Unicef and other relief organizations in the area. From our hearts, thank you very much.

# NEXT MISSION: THE CHILDREN OF MOSUL, IRAQ – September 2017
June 2017: 190.000 children (Unicef, April 2017) have been expelled from their homes in Mosul in northern Iraq because of war – and after several years under Islamic State’s terror regime in the area. Therefore, in September (Week 38) we will take on our next mission to children in refugee camps in and around Mosul – in collaboration with يونيسف العراق – Unicef Iraq.
